| Maltese Mentality |
A collection of endless newspaper writings reflecting the mentality of some stupid or crazy Maltese people |
REFERENCE No.
F001-00 |
My favourite description of Malta is that by Lord Byron on visiting the country: " Malta...the country of Smells, Yells and Bells" I would add my own : "The mentality keywords of Maltese.... Egoism, Ignorance, Incompetence and I don't care"
I am Maltese myself and I just see that the most beautiful island of the Mediterranean is completely spoiled by its inhabitants from when they got the independence in 1969. The spoil was symptomless in the begining, but it accumulated and accumulates until now, 35 years after, the country is just getting depressing to live in. It is also the most overpopulated country in the world. It feels that it would be much better if Malta was still ruled by some competent foreign governer with sense of rights, discipline, culture and respect to nature.
Yes, you may see lots of sunny beaches and wonderful landscapes in Malta, but to give an example, what does it count that you have a state of art work place, but the management is awful and corrupt, what it counts that you have a wonderful country, but the people destroy its environment.
What makes me said, as a Maltese, is that throughout all the history, the islands passed from many battles to be won by its conquerors, because everyone know that it was a beautiful and important place. Now that we started to rule it in our own hands, we destroyed it, it is becoming a disgusting place and tourists are decreasing in number year after year.
Despite that, I must add that not all Maltese adopt this mentality, only about a third of the population, but the genuine Maltese don't care - it is useless to care. Also Maltese are so brought up in this type environment that they do not know what they are living in, (for them this life style is the normal) and some realize it only after living abroad for some weeks. So for now there seems to be no cure - maybe EU ??!
If you want examples, you are going to get really many. The link below is an incredible number of reports showing in action the Maltese mentality. It was taken from Malta fact file composed Bob Aspar & Assoc. The webpage is large and takes time to download completely, but you can start reading immediately because only pics at the bottom will take long. It is all based on facts taken from writings in local newspapers or actual photos. An impressive collection, I would publish it as a book and put it on sale in travelling agencies.
CLick here to read more about this beautiful and stupid country - what a shame!
Enjoy reading and seeing the unbelievable photos !!

Sewage smell in the operating theatres |
REFERENCE No.
F002-00 |
Air condition and sewage piping passing near each other in the main hospital of Malta. I wonder who was the genius architect to plan (if any planning was considered) sewage pipes and air-condition system in a close proximity. A blockage in the sewage pipes caused the sewage filth to be pumped in the operation theatres via the air-condition system, and hence about 20 operations had to be cancelled. Old Bedroom furniture dumped in the middle of the street |
REFERENCE No.
F003-00 |
The personal dumping in the streets, sea, countryside or the environment always reach a new record. From bottles, to water-heaters, to washing machines to refrigerators. Now the new record, a complete old bedroom set furniture in the middle of the street in Marsa. Typically made in Malta ! Read article below (click on image to enlarge). The more funny and stupid thing is that there is a free service offered by teh goverment where they arrange a date and come and pick large dumpings. Well it is not really free actually but costs a phone call (0.14 Euros)

Another power cut (endless) in the scorching heat of midsummer meaning no air condition, no fans, no refrigeration, no TV or other entertainment, just wiping the sweat away. The lotto department can introduce a new game "Guess when is the next power cut!" Click on image below for a larger image.

The photo below just demonstrates how Maltese obey the rules of the state. These guys may have spent several hours fishing, and no one took action, no officer comes and make a routine check. Also don't be the hero of the fish, you may end up as the bait!

Its my fault right?! then I punch you |
REFERENCE No.
F006-00 |
This is another typical example of the civilized manners and friendliness of the Maltese, again the spot light falling on a crazy bus driver. The bus driver caused an accident due his negligence and instead of excusing himself with the other driver (77 year old man) involved in the accident, he just punches him on his face! I wonder who employs these bastards to serve the public,, they behave like bullies and criminals

Polite tourists theft - a Maltese speciality |
REFERENCE No.
F009-00 |
This report is an excellent example of the Maltese hospitality towards tourist - but they have to pay a price for it! Sky high prices for poshy looking tourists. Of course no VAT receipts to make a claim or sue. How long this could keep going on. Cant they make spot checks and who is found abusing, not only they are fined harsh but they will loose their license on the 3rd ocassion!

Tourism and Economy in Malta - Aug04 |
REFERENCE No.
F0010-00 |
After the 2 previous posts (F008 and F009) it is no surprise that tourists are not coming to Malta but find other touristic places with cheaper prices and less bandits and uncivilized people. A survey from survey times shows if Maltese think that tourism increased or decrease over last year and why the economy is not so bad. Despite this there is still large proportion who dump in environmental places which means payment of persons to clean the area of course from the taxes that the same Maltese pay. This logic is too much difficult to be understood by the common Maltese in the street.
