 a) Examinations
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This year students will make the City & Guilts #2240 part.1 which consists of
three examinations:
                      i) electronic systems multiple choice paper
                     ii) practical work assignments
		iii) Electronics Examination Board Paper


i) Electronic systems multiple choice paper:
=============================================

A paper consisting of 75 multiple choice questions. The markings are as follows:
                - 40% correct answers (30 questions)  =>  PASS
                - 60% correct answers (45 questions)  =>  CREDIT
                - 84% correct answers (63 questions)  =>  DISTINCTION
                - Students which get the highest mark will be awarded a medal!




ii) Practical Work Assignments:
================================

This  is  a  booklet  consisting  of 9 practical assignments assessed during the
practical  work  in  the  shool workshop by the tutor.  A minimum of 60% must be
attained for passing this exam.


iii) Electronics Examination Board Paper:
==========================================

This  is  a  practical  exam  which consists of 3 parts, half an hour each.  The
parts are:  (*) Soldering/Desoldering, (**) Measurments 1,  (***) Measurments 2.
The  pass  mark  is  a  minimum  0f 60%.  Also failure in any one of the above 3
parts, will fail the student, even if he gets an excellent result in the other 2
parts.


Exam Dates:

The applications for this City & Guilts exam is in mid November, and costs LM25.
Then the assignments should be ready by April, The EEB paper takes place in May,
and the theory multiple choice exam is held in early June.

Tools:	- Soldering Iron 25W (< LM5)		- Soldering stand
          - Desoldering (suction) pump            - Soldering cleaning sponge
          - Solder roll (60%Sn, 40%Pb, resin core)
	- Long nose plier			- Digital Multimeter
          - Side Cutter			- Set of small screwdrivers
	- Oscilloscope (LM400!!!)
