On the first minutes of Tuesday I and Malin landed back safely to Malta after trip which lasted for 12 hours. The best way to spend Christmas is without doubt with Malin's family and relatives in the small village of Bennas in the eastern coast of Finland. This winter was not as severe as last year, and the average temperature was between -4C to -12C, and few days was even slightly above 0. It is nice to have a break from daily routine life of work and work. In these 19 days I ate lots of sweets, chocolates and food which is not recommended by dietitians, but surprisingly I did not get any extra weight. At Xmas eve Santa Claus came to Mali's parents house where all the family was waiting for and distributed the presents. It was a very beautiful warm evening. New year's eve was a bit colder for me and Malin. We went to Jakobstad where we had a superb meal, and at about 11:30pm we went in the streets to celebrate new year together. People (mostly youths) just gather out in the square and main streets and chat, drink, shoot small hand-held fireworks, and in other words everyone was happy, laughing, jumping and celebrating the new year. It was a beautiful experience (apart my feet were freezing). Pictures of this holiday will be included shortly in the photo gallery section.
