Sun 29 Feb 2004   :   Spring is at the Corner
With February passed away, we are now entering in the splendid days of the Maltese springtime, ideal for picnics, trips in countrysides, and more outdoor adventures. The weather is already getting warmer, flowers everywhere, and the days getting longer. However I would like to take the opportunity to remind you of two important things for this Spring:

1: Do not litter around -
Always take a plastic bag and trash everything in it and carry the bad to a nearby trash bin or to the car

2: Do not cut certain flowers which are rare.
Cutting haxixa ingliza, lellux, poppies, and other bulk producing flowers is fine but do not cut certain rare (and so they look more beautiful) flowers since there are quite many plant species in the danger list of extinction from our islands. I really get angry when I see clumps of people, for example, cutting out at will daffodils and Narcis to sell them near the cemetery, put them in large quantities inside churches or in front of a picture of the Madonna Holy Mary. I am sure the Holy Mary would appreciate that the flowers remain where Jesus created them hence in the wild !!

So lets all enjoy Spring time now that its finally here in harmony with nature and environment!!!
