NOSTALGIA ;The Gobots (Bandai)

What are the Gobots you may wonder?!! Actually it was a cartoons movie on the TV, which I and my best friend Brian used to see everyday with great interest, that time having about 12-13 years of age. Talking about Brian, I want to dedicated this page to him since he was my absolute best friend ever, till he left to a new residence at Naxxar, when he married. This page is for you Brian (also known as Sirio / CosmoTrash). Do you still remember those times ?!!!

The movie (which think was Japanese in origin) was about robots which transform into automobiles, aeroplanes, sea vessels, warcraft, spacecraft, monsters, and other vehicles. There were two types of gobots, the good ones - which protected the earth - called Guardiani (which means Guardians), and the enemy ones - called Rinnegati (which meane Renegades) , which wanted to conquer the earth. Well, the basic story of each movie was that the enemy plan to make something evil and the good ones will fight back to protect the earth and finally they win - as usual!

After some time, we discovered that these gobots could be bought from local toyshops. They were the size of about today's mobile phone and they could transform to the corresponding vehicles and also had exactly the same names as the movie. We were really amazed and we soon began to buy them one by one. We were crazy about them, and there were so many to buy. It was something wonderful that you can play with the same gobots that we see in the movie. We used to save money that our parents and dear ones gave us for food and sweets to buy Gobots.

We would spend hours at the toy shop to decided which gobot we would buy. When we started to have a quite large number of gobots we used to play by inventing a story with the gobots ourselves; like as if we are part of the cartoons movie . This was really fun, creative, and longlasting. We used to play with gobots for hours day after day for several months and even years I could say. I think at the end we had about 25 Gobots between us in the period of 2 years or so. The problem was that we could not fing any new ones at the end. Harrier and PathFinder were the first Gobots I had.

Our interess in Gobots was so great that I invented to ceate and make a BOOK OF GOBOTS!!! This was just a scrap book where we used to make drawings of each Gobot we had. We used to invent and write information about the gobot, the procedure how it transforms from vehicle to robot, drawings and info about the weapons it can use, and large drawings. Of course, the info and weapons were invented by us, and we used to draw the stuff with great dedication, even if we were about 13 and 10 years old respectively.

I even took photo of the gobot toys I still have today, but since my camera has a long focus point, the images are a bit out of focus.I managed to find some photos of the gobots so that you could see. There are few gobots which I lost and dont have a picture of them.

The real picture of the gobot toys are out of foucus since my Creative webcam/digital camera cannot take picture of nearby objects. I will update as soon as I have a better camera !!!.
