GHAJN TUFFIEHA BAY Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 61) |
|
Photo of Ghajn Tuffieha Bay in Winter taken looking south (from Ghajn Tuffieha). The green hills surrounding the golden sand makes this bay a very beautiful one. Pity that the green/blue sea is very cold in February!

GHAJN TUFFIEHA & GOLDEN BAY Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 62) |

This photo is again of Ghajn Tuffieha Bay, with Golden Bay at the far, where there is the hotel. The photo is looking north and taken from bouldery land projection called 'il-Qarraba'

IL-QARRABA - BOULDERS Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 63) |
|
This is a piece of land projecting out from the shore and hence forms two bays - Gnejna at the south, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay at the North. One can easily go to the qarraba, but you have to be in good shape to go around it due the presence of boulders and some caves. Here are some boulders beside the pathway showing Ghajn Tuffieha and Southern Gozo at the very far in the mist.

IL-QARRABA - CAVES Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 64) |
|
Some natural caves found at the Qarraba Point. Maybe they are not real 'caves' but they look so. In this picture here are some huge boulders or large rocks over each other, which forms a cave-like place.

QUARTZ Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 65) |

Crystalline Quartz found in the boulders and rocks around Qarraba.

Another photo showing Quartz formation in the rocks at Qarraba. These are quite frequent, especially those near the sea.

WATERS AT GNEJNA BAY and 'IL-PELLEGRIN' Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 67) |
|
This is a photo taken from the other side of the Qarraba, looking towards the crystal blue waters of Gnejna Bay. At the far end is a green country-side land known as 'il-Pellegrin'. Really beautiful scenes here - you must be there to feel the fresh breezy air, space, light, and the sound of waves,

CLAY HILL-SLOPES AT GNEJNA BAY Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 68) |
|
Part of this bay adjacent to the 'Qarraba' point is has large grey coloured sloped hills with very little vegetation. This is becasue they are made of clay not soil. Probably this is one of the largest sources of clay in Malta.

Another photo of Gnejna Bay from Qarraba showing its clay hills, orange-yellow sand and clear water.
