Page Description |
This photogallery consists of many photos from the city of Uppsala, the 4th largest in Sweden. It is situated about 40km from the Airport of Stockholm - Arlanda. I went to Uppsala in Summer 2004 (June and August) and it was another beautiful, clean, quite Swedish city. The most interesting sites are the large Botanical garden and the Cathedral. Since I have been there for only 1 day, I am sure that there is more and more to see in Uppsala. There is a description about every photo and the photogallery in nicely presented with navigation buttons and photo thumbnails.
This particular page contains some more photos inside the cathedral of Uppsala, and then photos from the large Botanical Garden beside the castle. This Botanical garden was really organised, clean and relaxing. There were plenty of different plant species, which at end of June they were in flowers. Sometimes you come along an area of several species of the same plant Genus gathered together. This was particularly interesting so as to observe the similar physical features shared between the plants of the same Genus, and in the same time note particular different characteristics of the different species. To visit this garden you would need at least a whole day. The photos here are just a taste of what you can find. Additionally there is also another botanical garden dedicated to the father of botanists, that is the Swedish Carl von Linne.
Some photo description text is marked with an asterisk ' * '. This means that additional information was sent to me by mail by Andreas Heimbrandt, Research Assistant Dep. of Economics, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Thanks Andreas!!! [MarZ]
