Next day (14th Aug) was the best day of the whole trip.
We wasted the morning trying to find a hotel, B&B or
pensione at Gardini Naxos but all in vain. At least we
found just one Pensione who allowed us to keep the luggage
for us. After this hassle, we went to this wonderful beach
of Massaro' just below the hill of Taormina. We had to
stay for a short while only since we had to visit Taormina
later on.

Beach of Massaro crowded with people but up to acceptable
limit. Also despite the many people, the place was very
clean.

Photo of myself near a large rock in the beach. Here I
got a big fright since all of a sudden as seen a pool of
blood oozing under me in the sea. I checked myself but
no injuries. When I examined the colour well, it was not
really blood-red but more like the colour of wine. It was
scary and did not know what it was, but then I assumed
that I might have stepped on an octopus on this rock and
it released its ink as self defence. |

Forget it to walk up the hill of Taormina from the beach
of Mazzaro in August. There is a cheap transportation
by cabins on ropes (called Funivie) which go straight
up to Taormina in 5mins, giving wonderful views of the
coastal area and nearby mountains.
