My holiday in Budapest (2001)
Here is a set of photos from my holiday in Budapest, Hungary in September 2001 with my friend Etienne. It was another wonderful holiday, but perhaps a little less beautiful from that in Prague. The city is very large, and quite busy in the center. The buildings are generally huge and decorated and there are numerous large shops and restaurants too. At a particular underground station there was a huge complex consisting of more than 400 shops - a place were we spent most of our money!
Budapest is divided into two sides, Buda and Pest, by the Danube river, however they are joined by large and impressive bridges. There are numerous historical places, ancient churches, interesting museums and wonderful site seeing places, especially at Buda, which is the more ancient of the two sides. Pest is more busy and modern. The weather was not that excellent, and most of the time it was cloudy, and sometimes raining.
We also visited other suburb villages near Budapest namely, Eger and St.Andre which offered wonderful places, countryside, historical places (for example castles) and panoramic scenes. The air is always fresh in Budapest, and you never get tired - you can walk the whole day. Anyway, here are some photos of our wonderful holiday in Budapest

This is a wonderful view of Budapest from a high terrace. The photo shows the RIVER Danube and Pest side of the city.Budapest is quite similar to Prague, but it is larger and more developed. You can see various building cranes since of the development taking place. You can also notice the vast plain land beyond the city, as actually Hungary does not contain any large mountains.

This is a large cathedral (or church) in Buda. Gothic style, highly decorated, and many tourists come to visit it.

Another simpler gothic church, this time in Buda, very near the Hero's Square. This photo reminds me how much worried I was for Etienne becasue at this moment he got lost from the tour group!1

Photo in a high beautiful terrace from which you can see most of the city of Budapest, Danube river, forests, etc. and plenty of fresh air.

This was a big park just beside our hotel. It may mean nothing special for many, but for me it was a really cool place to go since in Malta there are no such parks. It was quite big place, probably half or even 1 km square, and there were also some nice places within such as take away, a Planetarium , Discotheque, playing fields and also various wild animals namely squirrels, cats and a type of blue bird which I do not know its real name.
