WEDTALLIN-00 : Our Honeymoon part 1 - Tallin, Estonia (Jul/05) |
|
Our honeymoon trip actually starts here, sitting on the Nordic jet Line ferry which is transporting us from Helsinki (Finland) to Tallin, Capital city of Estonia (5th July 2005). Tallin is situated by the coast hence the ferry stops in the harbour of Tallin.

When we arrive to the Reval Express Hotel (3 star hotel) we were informed that it was fully booked (Gulp!) As I was going to protest that we had already booked, they told us that we have a reservation at the Reval Olympia Hotel, a hundred meters away and the good news is that it is a 5 star hotel! It was really a nice hotel and very large. Here's me by the room window.

After settling our things in the hotel, we had a necessary shower and went to Tallin old town to see how it looks. It was so beautiful, huge colourful and sculptured buildings, lot of people and activities, and so very interesting. This is the Town Hall just at the Main city square.

Walking around Tallin (Old town) by night was very safe, and enjoyable (cooler temperature for example) Here was an interesting dark brick-worked alley with lights at the ground. This passage is called St. Catherine's passage.

Photo during the night outside the old town. Everywhere is lighted up and safe to walk. Huge buildings like these hotels or office complexes are common here. The one in blue has the name SEB (a Swedish bank)

After spending an hour to check in which restaurants of the many there where in the square we went for a drink in a Pub and we found a karoke show going on with some youths dancing too. Nice time here, and was somehow between interesting and funny when someone selected a song in English lyrics and notice how the Estonian pronounce the English while singing.

Next day (6th July) we spent most of the time in old Tallin. This is a typical view, narrow busy streets with large coloured, decorated buildings.
