RAMLA BAY, GOZO Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 21) |
|
Here is my favourite sandy beach, situated in GOZO the 2nd largest island of the Maltese islands. It is situated between two rocky hills and it is a very peaceful place. The water is crystal clear, the sand is yellow orange and there are 3 or 4 restaurants few metres away. Superb!

GOLDEN BAY Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 22) |
|
This is one of my favorite beaches at the West / NorthWest of Malta. The sand is wonderful, thick, clean warm, and golden yellow. When the wind is from the northwest there will be large waves, and it is fun to dodge or jump the waves. However this is one of the most dangerous bays because when it is quite windy, there will be underwater currents and some who is not an experienced swimmer may get trapped and drown.

GHAJN TUFFIEHA BAY Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 23) |
|
This is a nice beach which lies between Golden Bay and Gnejna Bay. Another wonderful beach with rocky scenery, clean water - more greenish than Golden Bay, orange sandy beach, sunshine and lots of people. Also quite wavy when wind is from NW.

This is a nice photo showing Anchor Bay at the foreground and Gnejna Bay at the far back. In between is this clay/rock narrow piece of land which separates the two bays. This is a nice photo showing Pretty Bay at the foreground and Gnejna Bay at the far back. In between is this clay/rock narrow piece of land which separates the two bays.

WIED GHASRI, GOZO Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 25) |
|
One of the most beautiful places to swim in Gozo, called Wied Ghasri. It is a valley which ends in the Mediterranean sea. In summer the valley is dry, and it is just a small beach. The water is quite cool, and blue. At the sides of the rocks you encounter some natural caves. The place is very peaceful, and very few people know about it.

FESTA FIREWORKS Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 26) |

This is just one example of the many different ones which can be selected from Maltese fireworks. This particular one was taken from the feast of Saint George at Qormi in June 2001.

GROUND FIREWORKS Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 27) |
|
This is an example of what are called "ground fireworks". They are stationary on the ground and they go round and move in different patterns lighted by colourful flares by means of firework mastery. This is taken from the feast of Saint Leonard at the city of Kirkop

CHURCH DURING FEAST Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 28) |
|
This is a church decorated by lights during its feast weak. Every town or village in Malta celebrates one , two or even more feasts annually, which takes a week. The climax is usually on Saturday (eve) and Sunday (actual feast day). This is a small church dedicated to Saint Leonard situated in the small city of KirKop.

CHURCH PATRON STATUE Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 29) |
|
Every church has a patron saint or Madonna, and during the feast the church is highly decorated and the statue of the patron saint is brought out from its niche and decorated with flowers and candles. On feast day, the statue is carried around the city streets. This is the statue of Saint Leonard, patron of the church of Kirkop

STATUE OF MADONNA Photos from the Maltese islands (pic 30) |
|
This is a beautiful statue of a Madonna who in other words means Mary Our Lady. In Malta there are different 'Madonnas' and this particular one represents Our lady of Sorrow (we call Duluri). It is so because of its violet dress, and a dagger in her heart
